Talk of Character


While cricket has been taken over by talk of character and behavior of a certain type (certainly the media and bloggers have made the most and mockery of it!), I found this article written by former Indian cricketer and Railways frontman, Sanjay Bangar, to be refreshingly different.

  1. Yeah, a great post. I guess the process of commercialization of the game is inevitable and it seems to be following the American professional sports system. Infact the recent verbal duels eg between Turbanator and Matt Hayden, seem more like an attempt to build crowd interest than anything real.

    While it might not be too easy to battle these trends (for the lure of lucre is too strong, alas!), it is possible to keep some sane oasis by highlighting stories mentioned in that post.

    Maybe this is making it too depressing than the situation really is. I hope that is the case 🙂
